Back to School Night
I am looking forward to seeing you all at Back to School Night tonight! Meet on the blacktop at 5:30 for the social part of the night and please be in the Parish hall at 6:00 for the general meeting. I'll see you in the classroom after that!

Mandatory iPad Meeting will take place Wednesday, 9/13 at 3:00 in the 4th grade classroom. Each 4th grade student and one parent MUST be present for this meeting, otherwise they will need receive their iPad.  Please carefully review the AUP with your child and have it signed before you come.

Book Report Novel - the students had the opportunity to check out books at library today. For their first book report they get to select a "free choice" book. The requirements are:
  • The book must be a novel
  • It must be at their appropriate reading level
  • The student cannot have already read this book
  • It must have characters, a setting, a problem and a solution
  • Biographies and short stories are not good choices for this book report
  • The book needs to be approved by me by next Friday 9/8
We will write this first book report together in class so that students understand how to write a 4th grade level book report. The rest of the reports will be completed at home.  The novel needs to be read by 10/10.

Students should have a reading book in their desks at all times. They may bring their book report novel back and forth from school or they may have a book at home and a book at school. Please make a plan with your child for this.

There are lots of Volunteer Opportunities in 4th grade. Please use the link to sign up for volunteer dates. I will add more as the year progresses and we will have field trips scheduled soon where we will also need chaperones and drivers. Thank you in advance, we couldn't do it without you! www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0d4aafad29a57-volunteer

Bocce Ball Tournament - I would LOVE to see you all at this very fun community event.  I went last year and had a blast! Please help your kiddos sell their raffle tickets. It is an important  fundraiser for the school!

Uniform Policy- So far the fourth grade has done a GREAT job of abiding by the school uniform policy. Here is a link if anyone has any questions about it.  SJA Uniform Policy  Keep up the good work!

Background Checks and Safe Environment Training for Volunteers: The Diocese has changed its policy regarding volunteers. ALL volunteers must complete safe environment training on the CMG website. The training consists of three videos, with questions after each one. Please print the certificate of completion at the end and turn it into the front office. This certificate must be on file prior to volunteering on campus, in classrooms, on field trips, etc. In addition, anyone, including new families, who has not been previously Live Scanned will need to complete the background check, also located on the CMG website. You will be billed $20 to cover the cost of the background check.
