Beach Day is coming up on Monday, June 12th. We need parent chaperones to drive and we also need a pop-up for the class and a cooler. Please use the volunteer sign-up genius to sign up if you are available to help! Permission slips went home last week, please get them turned in ASAP!
Mexican Fiesta - to culminate our year in Spanish, Maestra Snyder is hosting a fiesta next Friday June, 2nd. If you're able to, please contribute something small for our celebration. Link to sign-up
Walk Through California Program: This is a very fun annual "in-school field trip" that the 4th grade looks forward to every year. In order to prepare for the program, each student is going to be receiving 1-2 "roles" that they must research, study and memorize before the event. They will also need to prepare a costume. The costume does not need be associated with their role. Some of the options are: gold miner, Mexican vaquero/ranchero (cowboy), missionary/padre, Native American, Spanish conquistador, a costume depicting their expert card (role), or a costume depicting California geography or produce. We are going over all of this information in class on Thursday, so your child will have details about their role(s) for you then. Thank you for helping them to prepare a costume and memorize their part! Parents are welcomed and encouraged to come! The program will begin at 8:30 - the location is TBD.
Book Club Novels need to be finished by Tuesday 5/30. The students will be tested on their novel that day.
The Final Book Report of the year is due on June 6th. The students checked out Newberry Award Winner/Honor novels before Easter Break. The book report is a "free choice" format and all students will present their report in front of the class. I went over the directions and expectations in class last week and gave the students a hand-out. There is also information posted on my website. The goal of this report is for the students to share their novel in a way that is creative and meaningful to them. I look forward to seeing their last big project of the year!
iPads are being collected during computer class on June 7th. iPads should be fully charged and the original (big) charger needs to be turned in with it. (Small iPhone chargers will not be accepted). Families need to repair damaged ipads well before the collection date. Students can make an appointment and take damaged ipads (cracked screens/broken home button) directly to their closest Apple store for repair. The cost is $50.00 for Apple care repairs.
Parent Appreciation Breakfast Please save the date! We would love for you to join us for a Parent Appreciation Breakfast on Monday, June 5th. Please RSVP here. More details to come.
Students will not receive report cards and yearbooks until they turn in their ipads with covers and chargers. Replacement chargers cost $20.00.
