Join us for 4th Grade Mass this Thursday to celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary. All families are welcomed and encouraged to come. Students need to be at the church BEFORE 7:45 on Thursday.

Students should come to school in their mass uniforms on Thursday and they have the option to do PE in their regular uniform or change their clothes during lunch.

Used Book Sale will take place in the parish hall this Thursday and Friday. Students will have a chance to visit the sale on Thursday and may bring cash to school if they would like to purchase books. It's for a great cause!

Waffle Breakfast -The whole 4th grade will be attending the book reading and waffle breakfast this Friday! It should be a very fun event. Families are welcomed to eat breakfast at 8:00 on the patio outside the parish hall OR join our class for breakfast after the reading at around 8:35 at the lunch tables.

We will be visiting the Nursing Home this Friday afternoon to do some Christmas caroling and spread the Christmas spirit! Students may bring Christmas accessories to wear over the uniforms (Santa hats, reindeer antlers, jingle bell necklaces, etc.) to be put on AFTER lunch that day.

Thank you to my awesome chaperones and drivers: Pam Liebig, Patty Calabrese, Linda , Betty McDonald, & Denise Eakin!

Christmas Pageant Information:Christmas Pageant Participation counts as a graded test in 4th grade for performing arts. To prepare for the pageant please make sure your child has the following:

Boys and girls, bring the following in a bag labelled with your name
on Monday, Dec. 12 for approval:

Blue jeans (no holes) and clean white short-sleeved t-shirt (no logos or tank tops)
If you have them, work boots or hiking boots; otherwise school sneakers are ok
Also bring $3 for green construction hat to be provided for student to keep

SJA will lend students green scarves to complete the costume.

Book Reports: We have been working hard on our Newspaper Book Reports in class this week and last.  The students should have completed their planning guides in class and are now starting to type their articles. I am encouraging the students to try to complete one section each night so that they are not overwhelmed next week.  The reports will be put together at home. A large grey piece of construction paper went home today for the final project. They are due Wednesday 12/14. (I've given them an additional day)

Polar Express Christmas Party - The 4th and 2nd grade will be teaming up for our 5th annual Polar Express Christmas Party on Friday 12/16.  We will attend mass in the morning and then students have the option of changing into their PJs before we board the Polar Express. We need lots of volunteers to help make this event a success. Please use the sign up below if you are able to contribute in any way. Thank you!

IPads- We will be doing lots more on the iPads this trimester.   Much of the students homework will be paperless and. Turned in via google classroom.  I totally understand that technical difficulties can happen and I know it is a learning process for all. That said, students need to be extra responsible about bringing their iPads to school fully charged everyday for school. I am also reminding them that they need to be problem solvers and practice trouble shooting on their own before asking for help.  In class our steps are:
  1. Close out of the app and restart it
  2. Fully REBOOT the iPad by pressing the top and home button until the apple appears
  3. Ask a friend for help (this can be a phone call or e-mail at home)
  4. Ask the teacher

I am so proud of all that my amazing 21st century learners are capable of, they surprise me and teach me every day! :)
For Parents: Youtube and Google can help in almost ANY situation!
