Polar Express Christmas Party
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help with this special event. Students should come to school in the mass uniforms and bring PJs to change into after mass.
Geography & Spelling Bees
4th grade is the first year that students can participate in the school-wide spelling and geography bees. We will be holding a competition in class tomorrow to determine the participants of both bees. There will be 5 students and an alternate (from 4th grade) participating in the school-wide competition.
On Veterans Day the students had the chance to write letters to a special veteran, Thomas' uncle Charlie. We also made a short video for him. This week we recieved a video message from Charlie responding to all of the students' questions and sharing information about the military. It was really special! The class has decided when we come back from Christmas they would like to put together a care package to send to him. More information to come in January!
Spell-a-Thon 2017 Packets
Spell-A-Thon information came home in last week’s Wednesday Envelope. Our annual Spell-a-Thon will take place January 25, 2017!! Students will be given challenging, grade appropriate words that are a part of their curriculum. FAMILY and FRIENDS can sponsor our students by pledging funds for each word spelled correctly, or by simply making a flat donation in support of a student's participation. The SJA Spell-a-Thon has become a successful academic fundraising event with which we kick off the New Year! This is a unique way to raise funds for our school while promoting academic excellence. Word lists will go home tomorrow. You may also find the word lists here. Be sure to collect those pledges over the break too. Thank you in advance for your support and participation! Another huge ‘thank you’ goes to Cheryl Flynn who is chairing our Spell-A-Thon again this year. Any questions? Please contact Cheryl at firstname.lastname@example.org.
