Christmas Caroling - DRIVERS NEEDED & PERMISSION SLIPS DUE
Thank you to Cathy Breen for bringing back a very special 4th grade tradition. We will be headed to a nursing home in Bressi Ranch called ActivCare on Tuesday, December 19th to Christmas carol and spread holiday cheer. If you are available to drive and chaperone for this event, please sign up on our class volunteer page. The students may bring Christmas accessories (Santa hats, jingle bells, etc.) to wear for this trip. Please also remind your child to turn their permission slip in BY FRIDAY. Thank you!
Christmas Pageant Information
12/21 Christmas Shows: 6:00 pm PreK-3rd grades; 7:15 4-8 grades
4th grade students will meet in the 4th grade classroom at 6:45. All parents should go directly to the church. Only my room moms will be in the classroom before the pageant. I will be sure to take a class photo and share it with you!
Christmas Pageant Costumes
Students should bring the following Christmas show costume to school in a paper or reusable bag with their name on it for approval on Thursday, December 14th. This is a graded assignment worth 10% of their grade for this trimester. Thank you :-) Anne Marie Oldham
4th Grade will dress in all black with sparkly silver accents for the Christmas pageant.
Girls: Skirt/dress (length per uniform code) with black tights or leggings. Any combination of black with sparkly silver or black sequins or silver metallic fabric accents or accessories. Sleeves long or short, with shoulders covered.
Shoes: Black or silver
Boys: Black long pants with plain black crew neck quality t-shirt with no design or logo (these are inexpensive at Michaels; check for coupons).
Shoes: Black or dark. SJA will provide a vest with silver stars.
Polar Express Christmas Party - PARENT HELP NEEDED
It is an annual tradition that 4th & 2nd grade celebrate their Christmas parties together by boarding the Polar Express and watching the film on the last day of school before break. In order to make this party a success, we need lots of parent help. Please sign up if you are available to help in any way! Thank you!
Mission Projects: When we return from Christmas break we will be starting our largest research project of the year on the California Missions. If there is a mission that is special to your family, or one that you plan on visiting with your family, please have your child e-mail me with their request. (No guarantees, but I will do my best!) The rest of the class will have a chance to select their mission in class (I do a drawing to keep it fair). There are 21 missions and we have 22 students so everyone will be doing a different one. Requests are granted first come, first serve. We visit Mission San Diego de Alcala and Mission San Juan Capistrano together as a class.
Wish List Updated
A few parents asked me during conferences about our 4th grade wishlist so I have updated it here. It would be awesome to get some of these items checked off so that we have them ready for big projects while I am out on maternity leave. (the Bare Books & Frames, specifically) If you are interested in contributing, please let me know. Thank you so much!
Guardian Angel Program
What is better than the gift of Catholic education? The SJA Guardian Angel Program helps bridge the gap between our affordable tuition and the actual cost of educating each student. Your tax-deductible donation will allow SJA to continue to offer innovative programs for our students, recruit and retain highly qualified teachers, update our facilities and provide tuition assistance to qualified individuals who desire a Catholic education. Additional information can be found here or on the donation form here. Thank you for your support! We are hoping for 100% family participation.
